Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has slammed the court that released suspects of the Ganda Ward murder on bond.
Speaking on Saturday in Ganda during the burial of Mr Ngumbao Jola, the ODM supremo faulted the judge agreed to the suspects' bail application.
He went on to say that the succesful bail application was a manifestation of everything that was wrong with the judiciary.
"Somebody is killed in their homestead and the suspects are arrested and arraigned in court by the police and then the court is told to grant 21 days for investigations to be done... The court sets the suspects free. That shows that there are issues in our judiciary."
(Sasa jamaa anauwawa tena nyumbani kwake, alafu wale jamaa ambao wamemuua wanashikwa na polisi alafu wanapelekwa mahakamani wanaambia mahakama wanahitaji siku 21 ya kufanya uchunguzi... Mahakama inawaachilia hawa huru. Hiyo inaonyesha ya kwamba mahakama yetu kuna nuksi vilevile), " the ODM supremo said. (2:48-3:22)
Mr Odinga called for investigations to be carried out into the circumstances around the successful bail application.
Among those arrested in the mayhem at Ganda Ward was Malindi member of parliament Aisha Jumwa who was granted bail.
She has strongly rejected any involvement in the lethal shooting of Ngumbao Jola.
The victim was the uncle of Reuben Katana who was elected in the Ganda Ward by-election that was held a few days ago.
