The prime minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali is 2019's winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Mr Abiy Ahmed was declared the winner because of his active efforts in prompting peace in his country and the East African region.
The announcement was made by Nobel Committee on Twitter just minutes after Abiy was declared winner.
"The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2019 to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.#NobelPrize #NobelPeacePrize, " a tweet by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee read.
The Nobel Peace Prize committee also made mention of the Prime Minister's efforts in trying to resolve the tensions between Kenya and neighbouring Somalia over an ongoing efforts.
Thanks to Mr Abiy's intervention, the committee noted, the Kenya and Somalia conflict was near resolution.
When he assumed the reins of prime ministerial power, Abiy pursued a policy of inclusion to unite a deeply divided country.
