Mombasa-based singer Esther Akoth alias Akothee has been banned from performing in South Sudan.
Akothee relocated to Mombasa from the lakeside city of Kisumu and engaged in various odd jobs before venturing in music.
However, her controversial performances and public displays have forced the neighbouring state to bar her from performances within South Sudan.
The singer allegedly approached South Sudan Embassy this week asking for permission to tour the nation.
Unfortunately, her request was turned down based on her moral standing.
According to reports by local news outlets, the outspoken musician had her request forwarded to relevant Ministry headed by Makuei Lueth and Dr Nadia. They rejected the request.
“She is a bad influence and lacks self-respect. I watched her performance on YouTube and with the way she immorally behaves on stage, I conclude she is not the right musician to entertain our youth,” Nadia said.
Lueth welcomed the artist to South Sudan as a tourist as opposed to musical performance.
Online outbursts, general arrogance and 'erotic' performances were among the reasons she is an unwanted guest.
