The opposition activist who was deported in February 2018 vowed to defy all government blockages and even swim through the Atlantic Ocean to access his motherland need be.

But what is this reason that keeps pushing him to return to Kenya even after his humiliating twin deportations last year and another possible one on his return day? It's obviously politics.

Before his deportation, Miguna was basking in political fame after taking part in the heavily celebrated opposition leader Raila Odinga's January 30 mock presidential coronation.

It appears that just like in the 2017 polls where he unsuccessfully vied for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, he is planning to take another shot at an elective seat.

Therefore, he needs to be in the county to prepare himself ahead of the fast approaching 2022 polls, with the thought that he still has the backing of some Kenyans.

And being well aware that he might be blocked again, it is very likely that he has quietly reapplied for his nationality as was directed by the immigration department.

In the instance that he is again deported, he will have renewed his fading popularity which will prolong his political relevance and elevate him from his current position as a Twitter activist.

He will once again be the topic of discussion as others support and others condemning his woes, just what he needs to continue being relevant in his daily attacks on the Kenyan leadership.

At the same time, either reaction from the government will attract the attention of Kenyans to his new anti-Raila book dubbed 'Treason', hence bringing him some income.
