The three were charged with terrorism counts in connection with the terror attack that claimed the lives of 147 people, with most of them being students. Another 79 people were seriously injured.

The evidence provided in the court proved that the three were the masterminds in the attack that shocked the whole nation.

In his previous ruling, Andayi pointed out that the three had communications with the planners of the attack. He also noted that they knew of the plot.

“I am satisfied that the accused persons were members of Al-Shaabab and they knew of the plot and were also part of the attackers,” he ruled.

Previously, the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had argued that the three suspects should be handed a death sentence for planning with the Al-Shabaab to kill innocent Kenyans.

The three suspects have 14 days to appeal to these tough sentences.
