Speaking on Saturday during the burial of  Ngumbao Jola, who was felled by assassin’s bullet in Ganda Ward on October 16.

Raila said that  his union with President Uhuru Kenyatta is aimed at healing the wounds among the aggrieved Kenyans.

He noted that they had the people in mind when they formulated the team to collect views of Kenyans before a referendum is conducted.

“We said me and Uhuru we don’t want to see Kenyans dying because of politics and that is the reason we started the BBI team,” he said.

(Tulisema, mimi na Uhuru hatutaki kuona tena kama maisha ya Mkenya yeyote inapotea kwa sababu ya uchaguzi na hiyo ndio moja kwa sababu ambazo tuliunda tume ya BBI)

Raila has been urging Deputy President William Ruto’s allies to back the BBI report once it is released.

According to Raila, the report has views of all Kenyans. He insisted that opinions of Kenyans will determine the future of this nation once a referendum is adopted.

On his part, Ruto has affirmed that he will only back referendum if it is allows for a national conversation.
