With the 2022 polls already in sight and a number of hopefuls having already declared their bids for the slots on offer, Kenyans are looking forward for a bruising battle.

But the most interesting race will obviously be the presidential contest, which a number of aspirants have already declared interest in.

And though every Kenyan has a right to the race as far as they can beat the constitutional threshold, there exists a number of candidates who are very likely to land with a thud.

Such include Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who has since announced that he will be seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta upon the lapse of his second and final term.

However, the youthful Maendeleo Chapchap party boss appears rather weak, considering that he doesn't even have the full backing of his Ukambani backyard.

And in Kenya where people normally vote put their vote where they consider likely to win, he will be very unlikely to make it to the top seat unless he manages to assure them that he will not waste their votes.

This he will have to do by bringing with him an entire voting block, and as it currently, the region remains largely behind Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The other is American-based Kenyan lawyer and former Chief Justice hopeful Makau Mutua who just like the governor, will have it hard beating the political elites likely to emerge.

He recently hinted at running for the seat in a tweet before confirming it in an interview with the Nation but is very unlikely to realize the dream.

This is because Mutua spends very little time in the country and might have it very hard convincing Kenyans that he knows their problems.

Just like the county boss, he too is not part of the political dynasties which are very likely to have one of their own secure the seat for another time come 2022.

Also in the list is Amani National Congress (ANC) boss Musalia Mudavadi who is also having it hard coordinating his Western Kenya backyard.

Currently, a section of leaders from the region are rallied behind Deputy President William Ruto who is also eyeing the seat, while the remaining are behind Mudavadi.

At the same time, he is likely to face off with another Luhya in the name of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, another son of the region, making it very hard for the region to make it.

Without a solid support base, then he will not be in any position to convince the remaining part of the nation to support him, leading to an automatic pending loss.
