The man identified as John Sande was reportedly electrocuted by the high power voltage power lines, in what now appears to be a suicide scheme.

The incident reportedly caused power interruption at mid-night, when he is suspected to have climbed up there, leading to some residents thinking that he was a thief.

However, according to his uncle George Ombuya, the 21 year old has been troubled lately, and must have deliberately done the same with the intention of taking his own life.

“He is not a thief and he has never had any records of such behaviour. He has not been settled lately,” he told the Standard.

The incident was confirmed by area OCPD Meshack Kiptum who said that investigations into the matter have kicked off.

Kenya Power and LightingK Company (KPLC) officials had a rough time lowering the body of the deceased as his hands had gotten stuck on the power rails.

He is said to have been a quarry worker, with some residents adding that he was a violent person.

At some point, they alleged, he walked into a police station, lowered the national flag and dared the police to shoot him.

Kenya Power Regional Manager Dan Obiero also confirmed the incident, adding that his office will conduct it's separate investigations.
