Raila who was deputised by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the contest that was ultimately won by President Uhuru Kenyatta, would later successfully appeal the win at the Supreme Court.

The ruling was received well by his supporters who flooded the streets of Nairobi in celebration.

However, the celebration was much bigger in his Luo Nyanza bedrock, where his supporters went to an extent of blocking highways to welcome the good news.

The two major highways of Kisumu-Busia and Kisumu-Bondo were jammed for the better remainder of the afternoon, as supporters danced and waved twigs.

In his Bondo home in Siaya county, crowds of locals cheered and danced as they headed towards his home, terming it a ‘State House in waiting’.

Armed police officers watched from a distance as the youth provoked and taunted them.

Raila would, however, snub the repeat election dated for October 26, reading malice in the election preparation and claiming that the ground was not level, allowing Uhuru to easily secure a re-election.
