Every parent's  pride is to see their child grow into someone and something  in the society. A worrior, an achiever, provider and security to the family. This is the pain that the family of  the late Carilton David Maina have to bear since the 23rd Dec, 2018.

Carilton sat for his KCSE in the year 2013 and scored straight As in all subjects. He got a scholarship to study in the university of Leeds. From his way of life, Carilton is observed to be an ardent football fanatic. He was behind a bio-gas invention as clean energy, a dream that has died all together.

It is Sunday night the Dec 23, 2018, Carilton walks home on the streets of Kibra, somebody pulls a trigger and the muzzle of a gun  drives a bullet through his chest and Carilton lies down motionless.

Life in slums has been assumed to  be full of crime, contrary to the shady suburbs of Nairobi, anybody who walks in the streets of  Kibra in wee hours of the night is believed to be a criminal. In sundry, is this the reason why Carilton had to face such a cruel death?

IPOA has released a statement seeking to find justice for David Maina. In the statement, hope is given that;

"The authority will make appropriate criminal and/or disciplinary recommendations to the DPP and other suitable government agencies if they are not found culpable IPOA will absolve them accordingly."

In a statement  given by Amnesty International, Kenya, it describes Carilton as one who "lived his own life. He had no criminal record nor was he motivated by crime."

The entity further indicated that Carilton was born in Kibera's Line Saba, describing him as an achiever both in sports and  academics.

Carilton had secured a scholarship  to  attend BrookHouse secondary school and was currently  pursuing  an engineering degree at Leeds University in the UK. Did this make him a criminal? Did he deserve a bullet?

The IG Boinnet has urged IPOA to expedite probe into this incident.
