There was drama at an airstrip in Voi earlier today, after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko refused to board a police chopper, following his arrest.
The county boss was scheduled to be airlifted to Nairobi, where he is set to be charged together with other county officials over the disappearance of Sh357 million.
In the video, the flamboyant county boss is seen refusing to board a police chopper that was to take him to Nairobi.
The law enforcement officers are then forced to handcuff him, before forcing him to board the chopper whose blades can be seen turning ready to take to the air.
In a press briefing earlier today, Director of Public Prosecutiions Noordin Haji said his office had gathered enough evidence against Sonko and his co-accused.
"Investigation into these crimes have been challenging because of the repeated attempt by the accused to obstruct the cause of the investigations by deploying investigation tactics in addition to using goons to threaten law enforcement officials carrying out their constitutional mandate,” Haji said.
Sonko has denied the charges EACC has leveled against him, saying they are politically motivated.
