A section of governors from the coastal region have inspected the historic Tononoka Grounds ahead of the much-hyped Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting to be held in Mombasa.
The inspection by the county bosses was announced on Thursday by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
He was joined by Taita Taveta's Granton Samboja, Amason Kingi (Kilifi ) and Tana River's Dhadho Godhana.
"Joined by my colleagues, H.E @governorkingi of Kilifi, H.E @EGodhana of Tana River & H.E @Sambojagranton of Taita Taveta & several Members of Parliament we inspected Tononoka Grounds where we will hold our BBI consultative forum on Saturday 25/1/2020. Karibuni, " governor Joho's tweet read.
The BBI meeting in the port city of Mombasa will be the third meeting of its kind coming after two similar meetings held in the Kisii and Kakamega counties.
The inspection of the Tononoka Grounds comes in the wake of a press conference by politicians allied to Deputy President Dr William Ruto in which they said they would grace the meeting at the coast.
Tanga Tanga politicians announcement of their intentions to be part of the meetings are a dramatic reversal of their earlier position in which they rubbished the meetings as ODM rallies aimed at propping up Raila Odinga ahead of the 2022 presidential elections.
