Lawyer Cliff Ombetta who is representing Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino in attempted murder charges on Saturday urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) together with other detectives to get the full CCTV footage of Babu Owino at the B club.
Speaking to the press at Gigiri Police Station where Babu Owino is being held, Ombetta pointed out that the case should not be based on the short clip that was circulating on social media in which a person believed to be Babu Owino is seen shooting a man.
The lawyer further revealed that the legislator had been at the club for a better part of the night and therefore focusing on only a few seconds clip would drive the wrong impression.
"The clip also allegedly shows what transpired in the club, you can see its just some few seconds, probably 13 seconds of the clip. It is showing what might have transpired. Babu had been at that club much longer. Babu had been at that club for a better part of the night. So we need that the DCIO and any other investigating team that are proceeding with this matter to be able to take the clip in its entirety so that we do not only pick an issue that we can see and forget part of it that could have built up to that moment," Ombetta stated.
Part of the clip also showed a man alleged to be Babu Owino together with another man dragging the victim to the car after the incident.
Ombetta explained that Babu Owino was left with no other option but to drag the victim as no one offered to help.
