Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has defended Nominated MP Maina Kamanda over allegations of defying President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This comes a few hours after Kamanda declared his support for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Kibra candidate Imran Okoth, despite being a member of the ruling Jubilee party.
Ironically, the declaration came only a day after President Kenyatta endorsed McDonald Mariga as the Jubilee candidate, which has in turn painted Kamanda as a rebel who is defying Uhuru.
But Speaking on Thursday, Wambugu defended Kamanda from attacks from allies of Deputy President William Ruto under the Tangatanga tag, saying that the DP has also been defying Uhuru.
He noted that the DP has not been supporting President Kenyatta in his truce with ODM leader Raila Odinga, which denies his allies the moral authority of branding any other person defiant.
"I am seeing tangatanga fellows all over the place saying that Kamanda has defied his party leader Uhuru Kenyatta by supporting ODM's Imran Okoth, rather than Jubilee's Mariga.Hmmmh ... they could have a point. But I think its balanced out by the fact that Ruto has also been defying Uhuru on the handshake," he said in a post on Facebook.
"Personally I will go to campaign for Mariga when Uhuru goes to Kibra. Meanwhile, let Nairobi people battle it out (wamenyane mpaka Kieleweke)," he added
