Politicians have been reportedly seen taking their political fights and campaigns to such functions, which the senator says is well in order and should not be questioned.

Speaking on Saturday, he said that politicians normally go for such functions as they are cheaper as compared to mobilising rallies, which he said leaves them financially drained.

Speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning, Mwaura pointed out that unlike in rallies, they are not coerced to provide handouts during funerals.

"That's when we get a good opportunity to address the people. When we call for meetings people will want to be paid, which is not the case in funerals (Hiyo ndiyo wakati tunapataga nafasi ya kuongea na watu vuzuri. Tukiita mkutano watu wanataka kulipwa, kwa matanga hakuna hiyo)," he said.

He added that at times, it is the mourners who demand a dose of politics, and get angry when politicians at such functions leave without engaging in the same.

Consequently, he noted, he will personally continue politicking in whichever function he is invited to.

"We will politick at funerals, birthday parties and weddings (Tutaendelea na siasa kwa matanga, birthday party na harusi)," added the lawmaker.
