Governor Sonko has penned an emotional message after a photo of Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth and Kenya's Ambassador to France Judy Wakhungu went viral on social media.
In the photo, the toll that the battle with Cancer had taken on the MP was apparent.
While encouraging the legislator to keep fighting, Sonko called on the country to think about finding a lasting solution to the cancer menace.
The Nairobi County boss said that he was willing to foot the bill of transporting religious leaders to France to pray for the lawmaker.
"Cancer is really hitting us hard. The most important thing in illness is never to lose heart. However, as a nation, it's a very high time we should think of having a permanent solution of dealing with this serious disease. On behalf of the great people of Nairobi our prayers are with you Hon Ken Okoth. I shall be willing to sponsor and lead a delegation of pastors, imams and a few Kibra constituents to visit him in France," Governor Sonko's Facebook post read in part.
Ken Okoth revealed in 2018 that he had been diagnosed with cancer that was at an advanced stage.
He continues to battle the disease with grace and acceptance that has won him tremendous admiration.
Kenyans on social media sent warm messages to the MP, wishing him a quick recovery.
