Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane continues to hit the headlines after he was quizzed over the attempted murder of former Garissa Finance Executive Idriss Muktar.
Korane was last week arrested, quizzed and later released over the attempted assassination.
The Jubilee governor has also been in the news over allegations that he presented a fake Master’s Degree to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for clearance in the 2017 general election.
The IEBC has since called for Governor Korane to be probed over fake certificate allegations.
Korane has however denied possessing any Master’s degree certificate form the University of Nairobi (UoN).

Governor Korane was born and raised up in Balambala constituency, Garissa County.
The Jubilee governor has an undergraduate degree in International studies and Diplomacy from Washington DC University.
He also has a Master’s degree in Diplomacy.
Korane worked as District Commissioner (DC) in Mombasa and Garissa.
He also worked as Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology.
The Jubilee governor is married and has children.
He is a Muslim
Governor Korane joined active politics in 2007 but lost the Dujis Parliamentary seat.
In 2013, he unsuccessfully contested for the Garissa Governor losing to Nathif Jama of Wiper Party.
In 2017, Korane contested for the governor seat and won it on the Jubilee ticket.
Korane is said to be a philanthropist who supports community development projects.
The governor has already declared interest to defend his seat in the 2022 general election.
He accuses his political adversaries of plotting his downfall by linking him to Muktar’s attempted murder.
