Previously vocal against the BBI, alongside his allies, the DP now wants the BBI taskforce to move with speed and make it public how it seeks to have the final report arrived at.

He says that similarly, Kenyans should cooperate with those tasked with the role of making the push a success so that the country can have the final document by mid did year.

"Let us cooperate and make it a success so that by June, we have the second draft," he said in Taita Taveta County on Friday.

He also urged the task force to avail copies of the BBI report to Kenyans, so that they can read and understand the proposed constitutional amendments contained in it.

The DP observed that by so doing, Kenyans will be able to make informed decisions on whether to back or reject the content of the BBI.

“By reading the report, Kenyans would be able to make informed decisions,” he added.

His remarks come at a time when a section of opposition lawmakers want the changes implemented through a referendum, before the and of the year.

And though the DP has lately been giving an image of a man not opposed to the proposed changes, his allies have continued questioning the manner in which the ongoing BBI consultative forums are being conducted.
