Speaking in Baringo, Governor Barchok said that it is only the head of state who would help resolve outstanding issues.

The county boss urged politicians not to politicise the Mau issue as he called for sober dialogue.

"We don't want to politicise the Mau issue at all. We have to engage in dialogue. The only person who can help resolve this matter is our beloved president Uhuru Kenyatta (Hatutaki tuingize siasa mambo ya Mau kabisa. Lazima tuongee kama viongozi. Na mtu anaeza maliza hii mambo sio mwingine is our beloved president, the president of the republic of Kenya, mweshimiwa Uhuru Kenyatta), " the Bomet governor said

Barchok's words come amid tensions over impending Mau evictions that a section of Rift Valley leaders has strongly opposed.

The leaders contend that the land in contention is trusted land that does not belong to the government but to the county government of Narok.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen warned that, if implemented, the eviction plan would trigger a humanitarian catastrophe.

Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko had said that the government would not go back on its eviction plan.

CS Tobiko has been summoned by the Environmental Committee in Parliament to field questions on the controversial Mau evictions.
