Nyamira County Secretary Erick Onchana was on Wednesday evening released unconditionally after he was re-arrested at Kericho.
Onchana was on Tuesday evening apprehended after Governor John Nyagarama's former adviser Mr Alloys Moseti obtained a warrant of arrest.
The County Secretary is accused of delaying Moseti's payment amounting to Sh1.6 million which the court awarded him following his unlawful dismissal in 2014.
He was dragged into a Kericho High Court on Wednesday morning where he was freed on a Sh200,000 bond but, he was re-arrested again under unclear circumstances.
But, Kericho Senior Resident Magistrate Mr Ng'etich dismissed Onchana's second arrest on grounds that the warrants of his second arrest was obtained illegally.
A section of Nyamira locals condemned police for frustrating Onchana.
"Onchana should be left to work in peace. Unnecessary arrests should not be condoned," said Enock Oburu at a Nyamira Mashinani WhatsApp Group.
Evans Kabinga warned Mr. Moseti against using the court to embarrass Onchana.
"Onchana won't dance to Moseti's tune so that he can paid the money he claim Nyamira County government owes him. Moseti is the type of people responsible for poor development in the county," said Kabinga.
