Naftal Lusuli, a man accused of battering and seriously injuring his pregnant wife was on Monday arraigned before an Eldoret court facing assault charges.
According to the prosecution, the suspect committed the crime on August 10, 2018, at Kipkaren estate on the outskirt of Eldoret town.
Reports indicate that Lusuli beat his wife after failing to prepare food using the Sh500 he had left her.
The wife, Valery Masibo was left with serious facial injuries and cuts on her ears. She was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town where she received treatment and was later discharged.
Appearing before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, Lusuli, 26, denied all charges against him.
He was released on a Sh300,000 bond with a surety of similar amount.
Hearing for the case has been set for August 20, 2018.
The incident, that comes barely a fortnight after a Makueni man, David Nzomo, was captured in a video battering his wife has elicited mixed reactions across the country.
Nzomo has already been sentenced to 12 years in jail.
