The DCI says that the nine, among them two politicians, failed to abide by the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) in selling land for the evictees.

DCI adds that it seeks to investigate why the nine allegedly sold the land to the 3,000 families very close to the forest, which is not allowed by NEMA.

"We have summoned them after receiving reports that the families who were ejected from the forest have bought land near the forest and wanted to settle there. We want to know whether they breached any Nema laws,” said Narok County DCI boss Ethaipa Mwendwa.

The nine include a personal assistant to Emurrua Dikkir MP Johana Ng'eno, Ololunga MCA Jefferson Langat and former Narok Senatorial aspirant Albert Kiplangat.

Ng'eno, who is the legal representative of the nine noted that given that there is no law barring people from loving anywhere in the country, the move is meant to frustrate the evictees.

He added that 65 acres have been bought to resettle the evictees across Narok South after the government recovered over 20,000 acres initially encroached into by settlers.
