Makadara MP George Aladwa has faulted those of the thought that the ODM party is using the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to push for a return of the Prime Minister position.
Speaking on Saturday, the lawmaker noted that contrary to claims from some members of the ruling Jubilee Party, ODM has no interest in the return of the seat.
He said that ODM is also not interested in having any of its members hold the position, even if formed since its interest remains cemented on the top seat; the presidency.
"We didn't go into the BBI to push for a Prime Ministerial seat because we want the head. Our desire has always been the presidential seat and it's still there (Sisi hatukuenda BBI kupigania kiti ya waziri mkuu, sisi tunataka ile kichwa. Desire yetu imekuwa kushika kiti ya urais, na bado iko)," said the outspoken parliamentarian.
He spoke on Radio Jambo Mazungumzo Waziwazi, also attended by Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura, Thirdway Alliance Secretary General Frederick Okango and youth activist Ruth Amboko.
At the same time, he claimed that ODM remains a major partner in the push for changes, spearheaded by ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Jubilee leader.
He cautioned a section of Jubilee members who were initially opposed to the initiative, but who on Friday dropped their opposition, against expecting they will hijack the initiative.
He suggested that the group, which has also said that it is ready for the referendum which is being pushed by the two, will have to play along to whatever is decided by the duo.
"The BBI vehicle has left, let those who remained behind not think that they will bring their own arrangements. They deliberately remained behind and since they have come, let them await to be told what to do (Gari ya BBI imetoka na wale walibaki nyuma wasidhani watakuja late na wapange mambo. Walijibakisha nyuma na kwa vile sasa wamekuja, wangoje kupangwa)," he added.
