On Wednesday former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama lashed out at Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for claiming he will be in President Uhuru Kenyatta's camp in 2022.

Muthama observed that Kalonzo was not serious about the presidency despite the effort by leaders and the community to elevate his political career.

His words, however, did not go well with some Wiper leaders from the Ukambani region.

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui on Thursday morning told journalists that the former senator was not aware of the details discussed during the meeting in Yatta on Monday because Muthama did not attend the meeting despite being invited.

Mbui said that in the meeting, a lot was discussed and the importance of all was that Kalonzo would vie for presidency in 2022.

"It's possible the former senator doesn't understand what we discussed in Yatta because if you listen to his utterances, he thinks Kalonzo won't vie for the presidency and has chosen to support Uhuru," said Mbui.

"The truth is our leader said that he will support the President in the fight against corruption up to 2022 and when Kalonzo vies Uhuru will support him (Kalonzo) for the seat," he added.

Mbui urged the Kamba community to be calm despite the political turmoil brewing up in the region.

"Don't applause a leader who speaks ill of other leaders because by so doing you will be encouraging him more and more," Mbui said.
