The pain can ruin your entire day and interfere with your daily activities. Periods also cause moods swing. However, you can beat the pain by considering taking some of the drugs.
Certain drugs have the potential to ease the pain in no time, notes Debra Rose Wilson, PhD, a critical care medicine specialist.
Here are the drugs as explained by Mayo clinic;
1. Pain relievers
They can give you relief in no time and have anti-pain properties. It is often advisable to take the drug after experiencing the symptoms at the beginning of your period. Use the drug until you feel relieved.
Over-the-counter pain relievers include ibuprofen and naproxen. Prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can ease the cramps. If the cramps seem to persist, then be sure of seeing a doctor. They might prescribe you another drug or advise you to avoid certain drugs for faster relief.
2. Hormonal birth control pills
The uterus contracts during the menstrual period. A prostaglandins hormone-like substance produced kindles uterine muscle contractions and higher prostaglandins cause more severe menstrual cramps.
Oral birth control pills can help in stopping this hormone from causing more severe cramps. The pills can also be delivered through an injection, a skin patch, an implant placed under your arms.
