The Monday voting exercise was marred by all sorts of confusion before the Bill was finally shot down.

The MCAs rejected several proposals in the Bill including the removal of the post of the Deputy Governor. They termed the Bill as notonly retrogressive but also ill-timed before rejecting the same.

The three hour debate saw the members engage  in heated debate as the Speaker Benard Wamalwa watched in amusement.

At some point, it emerged that the members had not understand the routine following consultation from the Deputy Speaker Lawrence Okaale.

The 21 MCAs who discussed the Bill said that it cannot see the light at the end of the day because it doesn’t take care of the interests of the Kenyans at all.

Majority Leader Laban Mukhwana opposed the reduction of the number of constituencies saying it would affect representation.

“Reducing the number of constituencies will result in a situation where majority tribes will continue to dominate minorities in representation.

"The document doesn’t meet the threshold to warrant an amendment of the Constitution,” said Mr Mukhwana, as quoted by Daily Nation.

They, however, heaped praise on Aukot for the proposals saying that he has proven that time has come for the nation to consider reviewing the constitution, which is good news.

They also opposed the removal of the Presidential term limit and women representative seat.
