The family of Ikolomani Member of Parliament Bernard Shinali has admitted that he sired his late son Chris Atema Masakah with his former lover Petronila Munyasa.
Munyasa had earlier in the week come out to push for her involvement in the burial preparations of the 35-year-old United States Marine officer who died two weeks ago.
In a press conference in Ikolomani on Wednesday, Shinali's elder brother McLeans Ambani said that the family acknowledges her and will fully involve her in all the arrangements.
“We have no problem with our sister-in-law. We know she is the biological mother of our late son, Chris Masakah, a US marine who drowned in a swimming pool and she has nothing to worry about. As family, we welcome her here,” Ambani said as quoted by the Standard.
The woman who claims to have been been impregnated by the MP when she was in primary school had initially claimed that the family of Shinali had kept her in the dark over the same.
The claim was on Wednesday rubbished by Cosmas Shinali, another of the MP's brother, who also accused her of seeking publicity through the media.
"We communicated with her when we heard that her son had died and we expected her to be here and not seek publicity on national television as she is doing," said Cosmas.
Chris, who was posted at Lowa, died while allegedly attempting to save a young lady who was drowning when he was on holiday in Arizona.
