Pastors Association Chairman from Bonchari, Kisii County Lawrence Nyanuga has accused police officers in the region for condoning illicit brew dealers.
Mr Nyanuga said police officers have been storming chang'aa dens to collect bribes instead of apprehending the dealers.
"Our people are turning to be alcoholic because security officers have condoned the illicit business. Police officers should stop collecting bribes and ensure they are arresting those engaging in the illicit brew businesses," he said.
He appealed to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to tour the region to see how people's lives are being ruined due to increased selling, making and distribution of illicit liquor.
"We want Matiang'i to visit the region in person and see the situation by himself. Police officers in the region are doing nothing to end the illegal business which is destroying the lives of youths," he added.
The pastor challenged members of the clergy to continue preaching the Gospel so that people can turn their lives to God.
He stated that leaders should also not ignore the church.
"Members of the clergy should be included when the government is making decisions," he added.
