Televangelist Thomas Wahome of the Helicopter Ministries has filed a lawsuit against the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji.
The man of God wants Haji barred from prosecuting him after he allegedly used abusive language against a government official.
He has asked the High Court in Nyeri to halt a case presented before the Othaya Law Courts.
Wahome reportedly used abusive language against Nyeri South Deputy County Commissioner Henry Ochako on August 28 before he was taken to court over the matter.
He claims that Ochako took him to the DPP to coerce him so that he can drop a case against a chief from his village for allegedly stealing two of his dogs.
The dogs are valued at Sh300,000. The bishop has listed DPP, Ochako, Paul Waigeni (Chief) and Office of Ministry of Interior as respondents in the case.
"The DCC lodged a criminal case number 543 of 2019 at a court in Othaya against me where I was to be charged with using abusive language in a manner likely to cause breach of peace."
"He informed me that if I fail to withdraw a complaint against the chief I will suffer the consequences," says the bishop in his affidavit.
Chief Wageni is being investigated for stealing the two dogs. The bishop claims the chief stole the dogs in December 2016 in Kihuri village, Othaya.
Wahome has been accusing the chief of attempting to use underhand tactics to avoid paying back the dogs. The bishop's application is set to be heard on Monday, September 16.
