Mr Odinga held a close-door meeting with his NEC team in which the party endorsed approach taken on the Building Bridges Initiative report

A section of media on Wednesday claimed that Odinga and the ODM brigade discussed the possibility of pushing for powerful PM post.

But in a tweet on Wednesday, the party refuted the claims, arguing that both Odinga and those who spoke insisted on the need of reading the report.

"Party statement yesterday was clear. The speech by the PL at the NEC/PG meeting was equally clear. Nowhere did either of two touched on the issue of the PM as is being blown out by a section of the media. Our position remains clear, People must read the BBI report to understand," said ODM.

In the BBI report, the team recommended a weak Prime Minister who will be picked and can be dismissed by the president.

During briefing on Tuesday, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said although they had recommended an executive Prime Minister in their proposal to the BBI team, the document does not belong to the party.

“As a party we are cognisant of the fact that this process is a consultative give-and-take and that no party or individual can bulldoze the discussion or indeed the outcome. We know that no one person or party is greater than the nation,” Mr Sifuna said as quoted by Nation.
