A 19-year-old woman on Wednesday narrated to a Meru court how a pastor allegedly sexually assaulted her at his house while his children watched.
The woman alleged that Pastor Charles Mwithalii Kobia defiled her when she was 16.
She told the court that Kobia allegedly committed the crime on diverse dates between January 16, 2016 and December 19, 2017 in Igembe North, Meru County.
The pastor was also charged with committing an indecent act with a minor.
The woman further told the court that on the material day, she was taking care of the pastor's children when he sneaked back in the house while his wife was away.
The court was told that the pastor sent his eldest child on an errand before allegedly committing the crime.
The pastor is reported to have promised to help raise the girl’s secondary school fees as her parents didn't have the money.
The court also heard that Kobia gave the girl Sh500 to go to a local clinic to be fitted with Norplant, a contraceptive, to prevent her from getting pregnant.
The woman said she dropped out of school at some point after which the pastor got her a job at the Coast. She said the pastor kept in touch with her and would send her nude pictures and airtime.
The prosecution filed an application to be given time to get the information from Safaricom and present a printout of the conversation in court.
The accused through his lawyer Hoseah Mutembei opposed the application but Maua Senior Principal Magistrate Tito Maoga Gesora gave the prosecution two weeks to collect the data.
The case will be heard on January 21, 2020.
