Police in Watamu, Kilifi County are investigating an incident where Arabuko Forest scout from Mida Majaoni, in Malindi Sub-county, died after he was attacked with a catapult.

It is reported that John Ndondo was seriously injured on the head by Kalume Chengo using a catapult after a fierce exchange of words between the two got out of hand. The two were drinking 'mnazi' (traditional brew) alongside other friends before falling out.

Confirming the incident on phone, Mida-Majaoni assistant area Chief Renson Baya said the 30-year-old man succumbed to the head injury while receiving treatment at the Coast General Hospital where he had been rushed for treatment.

Baya added that the suspect is being detained at the Watamu police station.
