Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir on Wednesday led a blood donation exercise in Mombasa, following Tuesday's terrorist attack at Riverside Complex in Nairobi.

The lawmaker under the Shariff Nassir Foundation and the Kenya Red Cross Society have asked residents across Mombasa to come out in large numbers and donate blood to save a life.

Nassir condemned the attack which left 14 innocent lives dead according to President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying Kenyans should stand firm against terrorism regardless of their religious background.

Addressing the press, the lawmaker said the urgent blood drive will continue in Mombasa CBD, to help victims of the attack who have been admitted in various hospitals in Nairobi.

"I am calling on the people of Mombasa to stand with the victims and donate blood. We're one. Kenya is one," said Mohamed Hussein, a blood donor.

Meanwhile, several politicians across the coastal region have condemned the attack and hailed Kenyan security forces for acting swiftly to rescue the victims and neutralise the attackers.

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi said: "As we condemn this cowardice act on our soil, let’s pray for our beloved country and all those affected."

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa said: "Following yesterday attack I take this opportunity to stand together and pray for the victims and their relatives for strength to overcome the ordeal. I also urge all of us also to pray for our brothers and sisters in uniform. They risked their lives in their line of duty to safe our brothers and sisters."
