The former presidential candidate has now moved to court to sue the Kirinyaga County Assembly and its speaker over the rejection.

He said that the assembly rejected the proposals on unlawful grounds.  He has accused the MCAs of what he termed as “breaching of their constitutional rights and those of Kirinyaga constituents.”

The politician has asked the court to reverse the decision of the county assembly for rejecting the proposals.

He said that it is unacceptable for the Kirinyaga County Assembly led by Majority Leader Kamau Murango to shoot down the proposals yet they have been tailored to meet the needs of the people in the grassroots.

The motion failed after Murinduko MCA Evans Ndege failed to come forth to push for the same leaving Aukot’s team in a state of dilemma.

The incident came a week after Aukot faulted the incumbent Governor Anne Waiguru and ODM leader Raila Odinga of plotting to frustrate him.

“As the debate on the Punguza Mizigo Bill gains its own momentum, especially with growing support from the public and the county assemblies, it is very unfortunate that it has also been hijacked by a group of the political class who have told blatant lies about the bill,” said Aukot during a press conference in Nairobi.
