Kenyan athletes Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei are set to participate in the World Athletics Gala that will take place in Monaco, France on Saturday.
The two athletes who are world record holders and had a successful run in 2019 will be looking forward to earning the World Athlete of the Year titles.
All eyes will be on Kipchoge who drew the attention of the world after he became the first athlete to finish a full marathon in less than 2 hours during the INEOS 159 challenge in Vienna, Austria.
On Saturday, Kipchoge will be contesting to retain the title after he won it last year. In the event that he bags the title he will be the fourth athlete to win the award in succession.
Hicham El Guerrouj from Morocco, Usain Bolt from Jamaica and Kenenisa Bekele from Ethiopia have won the title in the past.
Kosgei will be battling out for the title with some of the finest athletes across the world including; Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands, Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica and Dalilah Muhammad from the USA.
