Kenyans on social media have expressed mixed reactions after the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) announced on Saturday that it was searching for a census enumerator who was filmed dancing with children.

According to KNBS, the enumerator who has is now being referred to as 'Mtu wa Census' on Twitter, went out of his way to put a smile on the children's faces in Thika.

"You showed up put in the work, and put a smile on someone's face, we celebrate you today," part of a tweet from KNBS read.

A section of Kenyans on social media felt that the act was not significant enough to attract the attention of the bureau. 

They pointed out that there were more pressing matters revolving around census enumerators that needed attention citing an incident where a census official who was gang-raped in Maseno.

They suggested that KNBS should instead cater to the medical expenses of the female enumerator.

They also felt that KNBS was not serious and honest in its search for the enumerator noting that KNBS could easily find him as they had information of all the enumerators in their database.
