Deputy President William Ruto has received a major boost following the decision by former Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu joined his political camp.
The move by the former ODM Governor to join the Ruto bandwagon follows the DP's sustained charm offensive of the region over the past few days.
According to the Standard, the former Governor was received on Friday by Dr Ruto who had been hosted in the county by Taveta MP Naomi Shaban and Taita Taveta Women Representative Lydia Haika.
Former Wundanyi MP and Minority Whip in the National Assembly Thomas Mwadeghu is also reported to be on his way into the DP's camp.
Former Taita Taveta Senator and immediate former Kenya Ferry Services Chairman Dan Mwadzo is however said to be distancing himself from Dr Ruto even as he bids to revive his political career ahead of 2022 election.
" Mwazo has been skipping the DP's meetings in the region and is no longer interested with Jubilee. He is now fighting for his political survival by strategising how he will win the gubernatorial seat in the next general election. The politician is now weighing his options and is contemplating rejoining ODM," a source was quoted saying.
