A number of Woman Representatives who are Deputy President William Ruto's allies descended on Garissa County on Friday for a women empowerment forum.
The female leaders seem to have prepared for the event to its last detail, from wailing SUVs on the road to the shaking of bodies to Somali music.
As part of the pomp and colour of the Garissa event, the Woman Reps ensured that they embraced a distinctive dress code, sending a powerful fashion statement.
They put on full body-length outfits, keen not to show too much skin.
The choice of the dresses appears to have been deliberate given that the county that the Inua Mama event was being held is considered to be culturally ultraconservative.
A majority of the residents profess the Islamic faith which advocates for 'decent' forms of dressing.
Women are required to cover themselves completely. They are asked to avoid clothes that may be seen as indecent or exposing too much.
The Woman Reps traveled to Garissa County to demonstrate solidarity with the county's Woman Rep Anab Subow who hosted them for the event.
"Today I am happy to join other Women leaders to lend a helping hand to my colleague Hon Anab Gure the Woman Representative for Garissa County to support Women, Youth and PLWDs in economic empowerment programs in Garissa, " Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Shollei wrote on Facebook.
