It emerges that the deputy county boss and majority of the MCAs are currently in Mombasa for a retreat, as he seeks to further render Waititu helpless in the county.

Nyoro last month took over the leadership of the county following the High Court's decision to ban Waititu from accessing his offices, owing to his ongoing corruption cases.

Details now show that he took the members for a retreat on Sunday, before they were joined by county executive committee members on Thursday, as he seeks their unwavering backing.

Nyoro's personal assistant Simon Ng'ang'a confirmed that the group is in Mombasa, through he remained mum on the agenda behind the the departure.

“The deputy governor is in Mombasa with majority of county assembly members and the executive … The deputy governor would be the best person to give you the nature of the meeting they are having and expected outcomes,” he told the Nation on Friday.

Githothua MCA Daniel Kaberi said that the intention is to chart the way forward on how the three entities will cooperate going forward.

“It’s more of a management meeting on how to work together with the deputy governor," he told the paper.

But Waititu has since poked holes into Nyoro's claims that he is in charge, maintaining that he can still dispense his gubernatorial roles even from outside his official office.

While taking over, Nyoro noted that his ascent to the top seat doesn't amount to a coup, adding that he will be willing to descend to his lower seat once the governor is off the hook.
