Philip Songoti, a Nairobi resident, has explained why he used a newspaper advert to express his interest in the Nairobi deputy governor position.
Speaking to Media Max-owned K24 Television, Mr Songoti said he made the move because he had tried reaching out to the governor without success.
He reckoned that the best way to get Governor Mike Sonko's attention was to place an advert on one of the local dailies.
"The reason why I have come to the paper is because I don't have a godfather. If I had somebody to push my agenda, I would not have come to the paper perhaps I would have gone to somebody, to ask somebody to go to the governor to tell him that I am looking for this job," Mr Songoti told K24 Television.
The flamboyant governor of Nairobi got wind of the newspaper advert but said that he would not offer Songoti the plum jo.
Nairobi has been without a deputy governor following the dramatic resignation of Polycarp Igathe after an acrimonious tussle with the Nairobi county boss.
Sonko says he is keen on nominating a woman to be his deputy and since Songoti is not a woman, he will not be given the job.
