Witnesses said the minor, whose identity could not be revealed immediately, was crossing the road when she met her sudden dead.

"The deceased was returning home from a local shop where she was sent when a speeding matatu hit her. She died on spot while the matatu's driver sped off in fear of thorough beating from angry members of the public," said a witness Dorine Nyaboke.

Ms Nyaboke urged the government to erect speed bumps along the road so that drivers don't over speed.

"The government should move with speed and erect bumps for the drivers plying the route to stop careless driving," she stated.

Keroka administrator Kennedy Ndege said the deceased body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral morgue waiting for burial.

According to the chief, locals didn't manage to take the number plates of the killer vehicle.

He appealed to drivers to drive safely on roads to curb unnecessary accidents and deaths.

"Drivers should stop over speeding since people's lives are important. Careless drivers belong to jail," he stated.
