Following the tragic accident that claimed the life of a Catholic priest on Wednesday, more details have emerged on the events that transpired before the Kapsowar-Chesoi accident occurred.
According to Fr David Ruto who is attached to the neighbouring Chesoi Parish, the late Fr Kenneth Yego was heading to his Chesongoch station in Elgeyo Marakwet after presiding over a wedding function at Kiplombe estate, Uasin Gishu county when he met his untimely death.
Being one of the first people to arrive at the scene of the accident, Fr Ruto revealed that the priest’s car had veered off a sharp bend and fell in a ditch 300 meters off the road.
More revelations from the Marakwet East Deputy County Commissioner Mr Stephen Sangolo also indicate that the priest might not have been well familiar with the sloppy terrain of the area.
He, however, indicated that investigations have already commenced to unmask the mystery behind the deadly accident.
“The Catholic priest died on the spot. We suspect that the late priest might not have been familiar with the terrain but police have launched their investigations to unravel the exact cause of the unfortunate incident,” said the administrator as quoted by the Standard.
