Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has insisted that he will not back anyone else for the presidency in the approaching 2022 general elections.
Speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi Show Thursday morning, the firebrand lawmaker maintained that he will personally vie for the top seat in the same elections.
He said that the nation is headed in the wrong direction and believes that he is the man to bring it back on track and will, therefore, be seeking to make it happen in 2022.
"I have closely observed the manner in which the nation is being run and I have come to the conclusion that it needs someone like me to lead it," he said.
However, his declaration comes amid an initial agreement within the Jubilee Party that the bloc, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, will rally behind his deputy William Ruto in the race.
There was also an alleged agreement that Central Kenya leaders would back Ruto for supporting Uhuru in his 2013 and 2017 successful bids, agreements Kuria seeks to defy.
"I will tell Uhuru and Ruto that their plan for 20 years is fine but I am also a member and I want the seat. I am also entitled to vie and I will," he added.
Asked why he never announced his ambitions earlier and had to wait until Uhuru is approaching completing his bid and if he is only planning to paralyze Ruto's bid, Kuria said that he had not decided to vie at the time.
