Residents of Bomet County may have to wait a little bit longer before Governor Joyce Laboso stabilises and returns to execute her duties as county boss.

Governor Laboso jetted to the country from India where she had gone for medication almost a month ago but she's yet to make any public appearance.

Before going to India, Laboso spent several weeks at London where she was undergoing treatment. ODM leader Raila Odinga is one of the notable leaders who visited her at the hospital.

A senior county official on Monday said the governor had been placed under full-time bed rest but refused to disclose the hospital which she's undergoing treatment in the country.

"She is under full-time bed rest and doctors are monitoring her closely. It will take some time before she resumes her duties," said the official, who declined to be named since he's not authorized to speak for the family.

Last week, a host of leaders led by Deputy Governor Dr Hillary Barchok and former Konoin MP Julius Kones, asked residents to pray for the county boss.

"Let's pray for our governor. She is still in hospital and I am glad to say she is improving. As a county, let us join her family during this trying period," he said without disclosing the facility where she's admitted.

Former Konoin MP Julius Kones added: "High octane politics should stop. We should pray for our governor. Let other things come later."

Asked what was ailing the first-term governor, Dr Barchok refused to be drawn to the debate, insisting that the family was at a better position to give such updates.

"The state of her health is strictly a family affair, we cannot purport to speak for them. She should be given the support she needs and we should not intrude into their privacy," Dr Barchok told journalists in his office two weeks ago.
