Eggs shelve huge amounts of protein. They are brimming with minerals and vitamins. Some call it the sweetest dish under the sun, but all that aside, eggshells have numerous advantages.
Instead of tossing your eggshells to the dustbin, below are some of the things you can do with them;
1. Crush eggshells to scare away snails
With their slippery bodies, snails and slugs don't like crawling over crushed eggshells. Crush eggshells and pour them on your door and any opening that may be entry spots of slugs and snails. This discomforts them, scaring them away.
A cut brings with it pain. It can make you lose huge amounts of blood if it's a large one. But worry not, the membrane inside an eggshell can play the bandage role much better. After cracking the eggshell, swipe some membrane of the eggshell and enfold it over the cut then wait for it to harden.
3. Remove coffee and tea stains off your mugs
The warm sensation coffee causes can be thrilling and relaxing. But when served on a particular cup repeatedly it may leave stains on it. To remove such stains, add warm water together with ground eggshells into the stained cup. For better results, let the cup stand overnight, allowing the ground eggshells to absorb the stains.
4. Calcium supplement
Using a coffee grinder or a blender, grind the eggshells into a fine texture. You can then add the ground eggshells to smoothies to act as a calcium supplement. Remember calcium is important in the development of strong and healthy bones, so eggshells do exactly that.
Just like the yolk inside, eggshells are beneficial. The next time you crush one for lunch, make sure you remember the benefits that come with eggshells.
