Speaking during Sharon's funeral in Magare village, Homa Bay County on Friday, Melida expressed her readiness to pay the price of justice with her life.

“Let me be the next victim after Sharon. I am ready to die if that will bring justice to Sharon.  Let them kill me," she said sorrowfully in her tribute.

Sharon was found dead at Koders Forest in Oyugis early last month in what has been confirmed as murder allegedly engineered by Migori Governor Okoth Obado whom she was involved within a romantic relationship.

Sharon's killing was equally condemned by present political leaders led by Homa Bay Township lawmaker and family lawyer Peter Opondo Kaluma.

He termed it as brutal, noting that Sharon who was seven months pregnant at the time was most likely killed because of her unborn baby.

“In an African culture, and even at war you, don’t kill a pregnant woman including her unborn baby. It is a curse. Sharon was killed because of the baby she was carrying," Kaluma stated

Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, Rongo lawmaker Paul Abuor and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo attended the funeral and condemned the murderers.

Sharon was reportedly abducted in Rongo town, Migori County early last month, before her badly mutilated body was found dumped at Kodera forest.

Obado together with his P.A Michael Oyamo and a county clerk in Migori Casper Obiero are in police custody as the case continues.
