One police officer died on the spot as others sustained injuries following a grisly road accident that occurred along the busy Eldoret -Webuye highway.

The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Confirming the incident, Lugari OCPD Benedict Mwangangi said the accident happened after a police vehicle collided with a heavy truck at the Mabanga area of Kakamega County. 

According to the Citizen Digital, five security officers were headed for Eldoret town when the truck hit their land-cruiser vehicle from behind. 

The body of the deceased officer has since been moved to Chebaiywa Hospital mortuary. However, the injured police officers were taken to Lumakanda hospital for first aid and specialized attention.
