President Uhuru Kenyatta's tough statement about contraband sugar in which his brother Muhoho Kenyatta is implicated has elicited sharp debate in Nyamira.
A section of leaders have commended President Uhuru’s remarks saying his own brother should carry his own cross.
“This is what we have been waiting for. President Uhuru’s latest move on the war against contraband sugar shows that the country is headed to a good direction," said Walter Nyambati.
Caleb Motari, a youth leader said Uhuru’s brother must be tried in court and if found guilty, the law should take its course.
“Uhuru is doing a good job even if it’s his brother, he must be dealt with according to the law if found guilty. It is a new dawn in the country and leaders should step up efforts irrespective of their political parties,” said Motari.
Manga MCA Enock Ogori said no one should go unpunished if he or she is found engaging in dubious dealings.
The ward representative added that the same should apply in Nyamira County to weed out corrupt employees.
