Deputy President William Ruto has found himself at the centre of the storm following the sacking of Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.
Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has now claimed that the second in command is to blame for the woes facing Echesa.
According to Malala, Echesa has no moral authority to blame African Union High Representative on Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga over his sacking.
The senator, who spoke on Sunday at an Anglican Church at his backyard in Kakamega, said that allies of DP Ruto should ask him why he didn’t save his career instead of throwing tantrums.
He insisted that Raila is not part of the team that hired Echesa hence he should not be faulted.
"I am hearing many people who are making noise that Rashid has been fired belong to Ruto’s camp. Even your MCAs belongs to Ruto’s camp. But am asking Honorable Washiali and Hon Shinali, Rashid stood and said he was grateful to Deputy President William Ruto for appointing me as the CS but when he is fired he claims it is Raila,” he said in part.
Echesa, who was a close ally of Ruto, is now being investigated over money laundering. He has been linked to the seven suspects arrested for impersonating President Kenyatta.
