Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Dr Ezekiel Mutua has weighed in on King Kaka's newly released spoken word piece 'Wajinga Nyinyi.'
Writing on Facebook hours after the release of the piece, the KFCB boss hailed the piece of poetry with its hard-hitting lyrics, as evidence that Kenya has come of age in terms of democratic engagement.
He said had the song been released in another country like Uganda or Rwandan, the governments of those countries would have taken action.
The KFCB boss urged Kenyans to reflect on the song's message.
"King Kaka's "Wajinga Nyinyi" new release is evidence that we are a free country. He has used his creative licence to prick our conscience. Anyone defamed can seek legal redress, but as a Board, we will not interfere with the production. Let people reflect on the message, but the fact that the rapper can do such production and walk scot-free is evidence that our democracy has come of age. Try that in Uganda or Rwanda and things will be different!" he said.
The piece, which premiered on Saturday, calls out the folly of Kenyans in electing corrupt leaders without thinking about their future.
A number of people have been adversely mentioned in it including; Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and former investigative journalist Mohamed Ali.
